That is it! File that among your Anti-aging tips! You need to be doing something where your legs are pumping and your heart rates goes up a bit....six days a week for the rest of your life. Now, you may be saying, I can not do that. I am so out of shape, I could never do an hour of anything. Others may say, But I commute 90 minutes a day. When will I ever get the time? or they say ......(you fill in the excuse). But you are a 'dispositional optimist'. You can solve any problem that you really want to solve. Crowley tells a story in Younger Next Year of a man who decided to 'just do it'. He was overweight, had high cholesterol, high blood pressure and low energy. He was so out of shape that he could not walk more than a hundred yards, that is 300 feet...about the distance between three houses in suburbia! But he kept at it. Every day he was out there. He walked. He did not just stroll. He kept a good rhythm. After a few months he was doing a mile in his hour a day...and then two. Slowly he began to lose some excess weight. His blood pressure improved - as did his cholesterol. In just ONE YEAR when he returned for his check up, his doctor was really surprised at the changes. And John could see it in the mirror. He looked and felt 10 years younger - in every way. That is what Anti-aging Growing younger is all about. If 'couch potato' John can do it, so can you. Now is the time for you to problem solve. How and when will you do your hour a day. This is not something that you can do just on weekends. You need to do it for an hour every day, 6 days a week. Commute? What about a walk after supper? Back before TV and computers turned folks into couch potatoes after supper walkswere the norm. Talk with your spouse or significant other. Tell them what you are trying to do. Ask them to join you. If you have kids, ask them along. (It will do all of you some good and you may find relationships improving and school grades too.) If at first they are not interested, do not close the door. Ask them along at least once a week....but no matter what the answer, no matter what the weather, go. Just do it. If you live in a really cold or very hot climate, you may need to do your hour indoors. OK, go in the basement or the back room and march in place or ah hour...or put on some old fashioned polka music and dance. Or go to the mall and walk at a good pace, climb the stairs to the second floor and climb back down. If you work in a skyscraper, you may find that walking the stairs will do it.
