Metabolic Cardiology by Dr. Stephen Sinatra
Metabolic Cardiology by Dr. Stephen Sinatra is the most practical and effective book for for anyone living with heart disease.
Sinatra has found that certain supplements can help his patients improve both their cardiac function and quality of life. In this book he gives the details and he offers example after example of patients who did improve. But the book is not merely a series of cases. Dr. Stephen Sinatra gives the scientific backgroundand cites relevant research studies.
I found it a fascinating read and of the many books about cardiovascular issues I have read, this is the best. Sinatra even offers a summary page on which he cites specific supplements and amounts taken for:
- Hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Stable angina pectoris
- Cardiac arrhythmia
- Premature atrial contractions
- Preventing premature contractions
- Intermittent atrial fibrillation
- Congestive heart failure
- Severe congestive heart failure
- Dialated cardiomyopahy
- Patients awaiting transplants
- Mitral valve prolapse
In addition there are specific suggestions for
- Chronic fatigue syndrome
- Syndrome X, Insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes
- Professional or world class athletes
- A 'couch potato' program
- Age management program
If you have a cardiovascular problem or concern about your heart this book is worth reading. And if you can do so, do get the newest 2008 edition since it includes information not found in the first edition.
Sinatra offers stories of patients who were on the list for transplant who were able to come off the list after starting a program of relevant supplements. He tells of congestive heart failure patients who were 'able to come back' and enjoy a more normal lifestyle. Lots of stories. Clear scientific explanations. Specific suggestions for each condition. AND a 23 page bibliography listing references for those who want to consult them.
Metabolic Cardiology by Dr. Stephen Sinatra is more than worth its price - it can teach you how to bring yourself back from the negatives in heart disease as well as how to prevent heart disease.
