JA Frazer Crocker

JA Frazer Crocker is a long time an admirer of the work of R. S. Thomas and other modern religious poets. Here is a poem thathe wrote at the age of 62.

Ephiphany Eve

“A cold coming we had of it...” The Visit of the Magi--T. S. Eliot.

We have, however, warmed wellthis space, the flickering votive ofour stumbling speech, the jagged edge of broken silence, holding at bay the violence--.

warmed well, too, this cold space, the pine scent in the fire warmed room, the guttering votive beside the Blessed Babe.

and yet.

We do cool the tears of mortalitycover our fears with rationalityand hear others tell out our poetry.
