College degrees online

College degrees online. Since I was a college professor, I can offer some advice. I want to see you succeed. I want you to have the 'joys of learning' and experience the satisfaction of doing college level work.

You can find a college or university that fits your personal needs. You can become a college graduate without residing on a college campus or commuting to classes each day.

What it takes

Getting College degrees online canwork:

  • If you are motivated
  • If you like new challenges
  • If you have access to a computer and are willing to work online for a few hours each day

But BE WARNED. Some online degree programs are not worth anything. They advertise. They charge tuition. They may even demand a great deal of work on your part. But their degrees are not respected. Their programs are NOT ACCREDITED.                            You want to be sure that you take your online classes from an accredited online college or university. Ask to see the college or university's accreditation before you sign up for anything.

Practical tips

Do some searching. Ask for information from several institutions that offer College degrees online. Read everything. Ask questions. If an institution is not willing to answer your questions, ask yourself "Is that where I want to be?".

It is worth taking time to review information from a number of different schools and programs. Remember information is free. Most schools are glad to send you information. All you have to do is fill out one of their request forms. You would not buy a car without looking at several makes and models. How much more important it is to get information about different college and university degree programs before you enroll.

Oh, and if you do not want them to be calling you (Yes, there are college phone marketers) then either do not give them your phone number OR tell them that it would be a problem to receive telephone calls - that you prefer to gather information for your decisions from written material or..... (I am sure you can find a good reason of your own.)

But here are some questions you might want to ask:

  1. Do they offer degrees in the subject area you want?
  2. Are their scholarships for this program? See: Scholarships for seniors Grants for Seniors Grants for Older Women Grants and scholarships for Seniors
  3. About how long did it take most of their graduates to complete their degrees?
  4. Do they have data about their alumni? What those who graduated in the area that interests you, are doing now?

So, do your homework. Take time to research college degrees online before you fill out any application forms. You have waited a long time for this degree. Another few weeks will not harm you AND it could prevent you from making a costly mistake.

Avoid problems

How to avoid problems when choosing your online degree.

1. All online colleges and universities are not the same. Some are legitimate. Some are excellent. But there are others that claim to give you a diploma after just a few weeks or few months of study. Be careful of these. Such schools are often 'diploma mills'.               Graduation from a 'diploma mill' school will not be of real use. You want to be sure to get a real college education. You want to be sure to enroll in an accredited college or university program.

2. The wrong major is a waste time and money. Some students find a legitimate university but then choose a major that does not fit their real needs or interests. So after spending time and money on some courses they 'drop out'. They never finish the degree!

You do not want to make that mistake. Besides choosing an accredited online college and university, you want to be sure that the major you choose will fit your needs, your learning style and your budget.

Avoid costly mistakes. You want a solid accredited college degree program.  You want one that fits your schedule, your learning style and your pocket book.

It is worth taking time to ask for information from a number of different schools and programs.  Most schools are glad to send you information. All you have to do is fill out one of their request forms. You would not buy a car without looking at several makes and models. Imagine the changes your college degree can bring. Fulfill a life long dream. Your diploma can open doors. And your diploma could be the beginning of a whole new career - a new, more satisfying direction in your life.
